FURNITURE DESIGN: SOLVING A DESIGN CHALLENGE

The redesigned armchair for the Virgin Active Silo District lounge tackles the issue of privacy in an open-plan seating area. The current armchairs, with their low and open designs, leave users feeling exposed and without a sense of personal space. To address this, the new armchair features an exaggerated backrest and curved sides, creating a cocoon-like effect that enhances privacy while maintaining an inviting look. Inspired by the Nicci Steel Armchair by OKHA and the Nest Easy Chair by +HALLE, the design is not only functional but also stylish, comfortable, eco-friendly, and cost-effective. It offers a comprehensive solution ensuring both practicality and aesthetic appeal.
